Kristie Tovar took one for the team this week. Determining how to salvage the 2020 holidays was always going to be a hard thing to do. In The Before Times lots of food, lots of people, and lots of people watching you eat food- added up to a nightmare for our ED clients. So, less people maybe better? The reality may now be a lonelier and smaller table at the holidays marked by increased grief, Covid panic, and political conflict.
See this beautiful attached powerpoint for an outline of holiday struggles during a normal year, building on that with our new 2020 complicating factors. Kristie thinks about creating new traditions while still focusing on the meaning of holiday spirit. She expands for us how to support clients during virtual events. Here is information, not only about the business of boosting immunity, but addressing safety issues unique to sharing food during a contagious pandemic.
What I love about Kristie’s work is the simplicity, the “make a plan” messaging. Because honestly, at this point in 2020 I just need to be told what to do. And this is great information for anyone supporting others who need the same. Thank you to all who joined us (Tessa Smith, Amy Chalker, Darcy Helene, Amanda Jennings, TAmmy Bahgdasarian, Tessa Gordon, Cori Rosenthal, Christine Loeb, Josie Munroe, Elizabeth Weiner, Anna Kowalski, Cassidy Russell, Jaimee Gooley, and Jackie Shapin)
Watch the talk on our website. Listen to us discuss the challenge of encountering Diet Talk at a holiday party.
Bonus: don’t miss Kristie’s yummy seasonal side dish recipe
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.
