Margie Slater

I am a licensed clinical psychologist (PSY 26243). I work with young adults and adults in private practice. I completed my undergraduate work at the University of Southern California, majoring in Psychology, and I then obtained my Master of Arts and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Azusa Pacific University. My training has been diverse; I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families at an elementary school, college counseling center, inpatient psychiatric hospital, eating disorder facilities (Intensive Outpatient Program, Partial Hospitalization Program, and Residential Treatment Center), outpatient community counseling center, and private practice.

I completed two years of pre-and-post doctoral training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy at the Wright Institute Los Angeles. I also completed the two-year Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Program at the New Center for Psychoanalysis. These trainings culminated in obtaining two Certificates in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy.

I am also an Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Certified Therapist. EMDR is a highly effective treatment for trauma and it can also be used to treat a variety of other conditions such as eating disorders, depression, anxiety, grief, etc. I incorporate EMDR into my treatment whenever it is clinically indicated.
