Help for orthorexia and rigid clean-eating patterns
Orthorexia is not yet a formal DSM diagnosis, but VFED members regularly treat people whose “healthy eating” has become rigid, socially isolating, or medically harmful.
Treatment loosens food rules, restores variety and flexibility, and addresses anxiety and identity that got tangled up with eating. A dietitian who specializes in eating disorders is especially important here — generic meal plans can make the rigidity worse.
Find a VFED dietitian or therapist if food rules are running your life, even if you were praised for being disciplined.
