Julia Szpakiewicz, LMFT

Psychotherapist
San Fernando Valley

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with experience in working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I have an extensive background working with individuals who are facing anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, life transitions, eating disorders, social challenges and identity exploration. My experience in various levels of treatment care (residential, day treatment, outpatient) offers me a well rounded perspective of the client and their struggles. I utilize various techniques including: acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative, solution focused and mindfulness training.

My approach is focused on the ability to be truthful without judgement. By providing an honest compassionate space for the client I help them explore the best route through situations. Utilizing various techniques, I encourage the client to become more self aware and make different choices until the desired values and/or goals are attained.

I aim at relational work focusing on communication and boundaries. I like to highlight what is going well, the current struggle and what the client is looking forward to. I believe that integration of all these parts makes us feel whole and secure.
